An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese army fighter Kawasaki Ki-100-I Otsu in 1:48 scale from Hasegawa. The Otsu rendering was distinguished by a lowered rear fuselage spine and a teardrop canopy with a view in all directions. The box usually carries the Allied code name Tony. Check the particular decals against the manufacturer part number.
The Kawasaki Ki-100 was created at the end of the war by combining the airframe of the Ki-61 Hien fighter with the Mitsubishi Ha-112 radial engine. The result was an agile and reliable fighter that was among the best Japanese army aircraft of its time. Compared with the early rendering, the Otsu variant had a revised rear fuselage with a teardrop canopy for a better view out. The aircraft was used for the defense of Japanese airspace.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Paint the cockpit and bring it out before closing the fuselage; mask the teardrop canopy and attach it with canopy glue. Seat the radial engine and the cowling carefully. Japanese army machines usually carried a green upper surface and natural metal or a light underside — after the gloss varnish and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
