The set of masks 1:48 Ki-21 Ia Sally National Insignias And Unit Markings is for spraying the national insignia and unit markings of the Mitsubishi Ki-21 bomber. Developed for the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Japanese army bombers carried not only the national discs but also prominent unit markings, usually on the vertical tail surface and in bands around the fuselage. These elements have hard geometric edges, so it is on them that a decal fails most conspicuously: it only takes the film to run over the edge of the rudder and the illusion is gone. A sprayed area does not have that problem. The target kit is ICM.
Bomber sentai used recognition markings derived from the number of the unit, often stylized into the shape of a lightning bolt, an arrow or a character of the syllabary. The color and placing differed by squadron, so two machines of the same unit could look different. It is exactly this variety that makes Japanese bombers rewarding models, and at the same time it places demands on the accuracy of application. Look for a photographic reference to the particular machine, therefore, not just to the type.
For modelers who want the tail markings sharp even across the parting gap of the rudder. What you get is masking for the insignia, not the plastic parts of the bomber. It takes more time than applying a decal, but the result lasts without peeled edges.
