Resin barrels for the onboard guns of the Ki-46 III Dinah in 1:48 scale from Quickboost — an exact detail accessory, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Resin castings of the barrels of the onboard guns for the Japanese Ki-46 III reconnaissance aircraft, known under the Allied reporting name Dinah, in 1:48 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but an exact replacement part for experienced modelers that will replace the blunt, solid plastic barrels from the kit with accurate castings with the correct shape and a fine finish at the muzzle. Accurate barrels give a model crispness and an authentic look.
The Ki-46 was an elegant Japanese twin-engine reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War, valued for its high speed and range; the III version was among its higher-performing variants. The barrels of the onboard guns are usually cast coarsely in plastic and with a solid muzzle. The resin barrels have a cleaner shape and a more delicate finish. The accessory is meant to refine an existing Ki-46 model in the same scale, not as a standalone kit.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release. Separate the tiny castings from the casting blocks carefully with a sharp knife and clean up the surfaces; protect your airways while sanding resin. Cut the original plastic barrels off the model and replace them with the resin parts, bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Repaint the barrels in a metallic shade and weather them lightly. Because they are so small, work over a tray.
It is supplied as an unpainted resin accessory for completing a model. Glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
