Piper L-4 Grasshopper - a single-sided self-adhesive Art Scale mask 1:48

The Piper L-4 Grasshopper single-sided self-adhesive Art Scale mask 1:48 is a set of precisely pre-cut masks in kabuki tape from the Czech maker Art Scale. It contains neither a model nor paint - it serves for quick and clean masking of the cockpit glazing and usually of the wheels as well while spraying. The single-sided version masks the outer side of the glazing.

The real subject

The Piper L-4 Grasshopper was an American light liaison and observation aircraft of the Second World War, derived from the civilian Piper Cub. It served for artillery spotting, liaison and observation from low altitude. For a good view it has extensive pilot compartments glazed along the sides with a great many frames, and masking them is made far easier by this set.

Use

• Peel the individual numbered masks off and transfer them onto clean, degreased glazing.
• The mask follows the frames exactly, so it is enough to spray over it with the color of the cockpit frames.
• The single-sided version covers the outer surfaces; we recommend painting the inside of the cockpit before the glazing is closed.
• We recommend a sharp modeling knife, tweezers and applying the paint in thin coats.
