1:48 Lancaster B.Mk.I, masks for the roundels and markings of the British four-engine night bomber. Intended for the HK Models kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for spraying the national insignia and markings of the Avro Lancaster B.Mk.I bomber in 1:48 scale. On a model this large a painted insignia is practical: it does not have to be settled across long panel seams or over the curves of the fuselage, where large decals like to silver. Anyone who has once struggled with a meter of wingspan and a large roundel knows why this route pays off. The set is designed for the HK Models kit.
The Lancaster was among the most capable British bombers of the Second World War. Four Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engines, a bomb bay running almost the whole length of the fuselage and defensive gun turrets made it the main instrument of the night bombing of Germany. The crew numbered seven men and the conditions during a night flight at high altitude were among the harshest the air force of the day knew. The B.Mk.I form is the basic production version, from which further modifications were derived, including machines adapted for an oversized bomb load.
The roundels and the code letters come only onto dry camouflage, ideally before the final matting. It is better to apply the paint in two thinner coats than in one heavy one, so that no ridge forms under the edge of the stencil. On an insignia made up of several concentric circles, let every shade cure thoroughly, otherwise the base will lift at the next step. Where markings cross rows of rivets, it helps to press the stencil down with a wooden toothpick.
