The set holds photo-etched metal grilles and meshes meant for refining the plastic kit of the Land Rover Snatch armored off-road vehicle in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle - it is an aftermarket accessory from the Czech maker Hauler for the Airfix kit, which you need to have separately.
The Snatch is the armored version of the British Land Rover off-road car, used by security and military units on patrol and escort duty. The characteristic feature of the vehicle is the protective grilles and meshes across the windows, the headlights and the radiator intake, which protect the glazing and the lighting. It is precisely these elements that set the silhouette of the vehicle, and in injection-molded plastic they cannot be imitated faithfully: they are either dealt with as a solid area with the detail merely engraved, or as a disproportionately thick frame.
Photo-etched mesh is at once the strongest point of the set and its most vulnerable part. It has to be cut with a sharp blade at right angles, in one stroke and on a hard surface - a slanted cut will make the edge wavy. If the set holds a grille for a large area, offer it up dry and measure exactly, because shortening it once the glue has dried is no longer possible. Glue by the frame, never by the mesh itself: a drop of glue in the openings shows even after painting. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush held at right angles to the surface, so that the openings do not fill in. Finish the glazing that the grilles cover at the very end.
This is an accessory set, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
