GasPatch Models 1:48 Le Rhône 9J is a 3D-printed resin rotary engine for builders of First World War aircraft models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but a stand-alone, detailed resin engine in 1:48 scale for experienced modelers. The Le Rhône 9J is a French nine-cylinder rotary engine, one of the most widespread powerplants of First World War fighters. The set is 3D printed from resin and even in the smaller 1:48 scale offers a remarkably fine rendering of the cylinders and the detail. The maker is the Greek brand GasPatch Models.
The Le Rhône 9J was among the most successful rotary aircraft engines of its day and powered a whole range of Allied and license-built machines. A rotary engine turned together with the propeller around a fixed crankshaft; the characteristic nine-cylinder star is a recognition feature of many aircraft of the end of the First World War. A faithful model of the engine brings the uncovered front end of an aircraft to life.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent residue and separate them carefully from the thin print supports. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The engine comes out with metallic shades, rubbing and a wash settled between the cylinders; in 1:48 scale a fine brush and a magnifier pay off. Sand resin with respiratory protection.
The engine is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and the base aircraft model are not included in the package.
