This item is neither an aircraft model nor a kit. It is a resin accessory with which the standard plastic landing gear wheels of a model in 1:48 scale are replaced. According to the name the set is intended for the trainer and light combat versions of the BAe Hawk designated T1, T1A and T2 and for the export series Mk.50, Mk.60 and Mk.100. The manufacturer is Reskit, which has long specialized in resin accessories for aircraft kits.
In plastic kits the wheels are usually split into two halves, so a parting line runs across the middle of both the tire and the hub, and it has to be sanded away and the tread restored. Resin wheels are cast in one piece, so there is no parting line and the detail of the hub and the tire sidewall stays undamaged. It is one of the few accessories that is visible on a finished model even from a normal distance, because the landing gear stands right at the viewer's eye level.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a knife with a fine blade and level the surface with abrasive paper, ideally dry and with respiratory protection. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on it. Before gluing, check the diameter of the axle against the landing gear leg in your own kit and, if necessary, carefully drill the hole out. When painting, it works well to spray the whole wheel in the tire shade and then mask the hub with a circular mask or paint it with a brush.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Please check that it matches the particular kit you are building before buying.
