A set of three-dimensional decals from the SPACE range by the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended for models of the Lockheed Martin F-35B aircraft in 1:48 scale. The SPACE range uses printed decals with real thickness and a raised surface, which are stuck straight onto the parts of a model and replace the laborious hand coloring of small details. It is an accessory for a kit already bought; the model itself is not included in the package.
The Lockheed Martin F-35B is the variant of the single-seat fifth-generation combat aircraft adapted for short takeoff and vertical landing. It differs from the other versions in its propulsion: behind the cockpit sits a lift fan driven by a shaft from the main engine, whose nozzle swivels downward for the vertical regime, and roll-control nozzles in the wing complete the arrangement. The aircraft has internal weapons bays so as to keep a clean external outline, and a cockpit with a large touchscreen instead of a conventional set of instruments. Surfaces like these are hard to paint by hand on a model, so printed three-dimensional details suit them.
The three-dimensional decals of the SPACE range are not soaked in water like conventional decals. The elements are carefully released from the carrier film and stuck to a degreased, smooth part painted beforehand in a base shade. Use tweezers or a dampened wooden stick, lay the element on first and only press it down with a soft tool after checking the position. On edges and in recesses, light pressure with a rounded toothpick helps. Once dry you can fix the finished detail with a thin coat of varnish, usually gloss on instrument surfaces and matte on the rest. Always compare the exact procedure against the instructions supplied with the set.
The box holds only the accessory set. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
