1:48 Lockheed PV-1 Ventura Propeller set is a set of propellers for a model of the American patrol bomber. It replaces the propellers from the base kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a builder of the twin-engine patrol bomber who wants the propeller blades sharper and with a more faithful section than the base kit offers. Propellers are among the parts a viewer notices first, because they stand at the front of the whole machine. The aircraft itself is not part of the item.
The Ventura grew out of a civil airliner and it was brought into military form by a Royal Air Force requirement for a fast patrol machine. The PV-1 version served above all with the US Navy, where it carried out the tasks of patrolling over the sea, attacking submarines and bombing coastal targets, and it did the same with British and New Zealand units. Compared with the previous versions it received heavier armament, radar and a revised nose. It was powered by a pair of massive twin-row Double Wasp radial engines, whose power called for sturdy three-blade propellers with markedly wide blades.
Cut the blades off and clean them up carefully, as they are thin and break easily. Before gluing, check that all the blades have the same angle of pitch, otherwise the propeller will look out of true. Paint the hub separately and run a metallic shade lightly along the leading edges of the blades, because that is where the finish wore off first in service.
