About product

Resin M310 launcher rails for Hellfire missiles in 1:48 scale

Two rails as an accessory under the stub wings. This set solves a situation that no repainting or reworking of the box part will solve. The newer rail has a different design from the earlier version and kits usually do not contain it, because the tooling was made earlier. Anyone building a machine in a later configuration has to replace the pylons, otherwise the model carries equipment that does not belong to it.

The real subject

The M310 is a launcher rail for Hellfire guided missiles mounted on the stub wings of helicopters, newer in design than the earlier M272 family of rails. This version carries two missiles. The choice between the individual rail types follows from which machine and which period you are building.

What the assembly involves

The set is small, but the work on it is fine. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw and level the surface gradually, as the thin sections break easily. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent beforehand, otherwise the primer will not hold. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue; reinforce the joint with the stub wing with a wire pin. Watch the symmetry of both sides while gluing, as on a helicopter the rail is clearly visible from the front and a misalignment catches the eye more than it would on an airplane. Paint over the primer in thin coats, so that the edges of the rails do not fill in.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of attack helicopters in 1:48 scale.
  • Modelers building machines in a newer armament configuration.
  • More experienced builders used to fine resin parts.

Reskit makes several launcher rail sets for Hellfire missiles, differing in the type of rail, the number of rails and the scale. They are told apart by the exact designation of the set, so check it against the machine you are building.

The set is an accessory to a model, not a standalone kit. The missiles and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
