The 1:48 F-4J and F-4S Phantom II Expert masking set is the widest of the levels offered of cut masking templates of kabuki paper for a model of the naval version of the famous two-seat fighter. The target kit: Zoukei-Mura.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer New Ware is intended for the Phantom model in 1:48 scale. It contains machine-cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki paper, that is, of a thin pliable material with a light adhesive that can be taken off after spraying without risk to the paint. Expert denotes the widest of the levels of coverage offered. The masks are cut for the Zoukei-Mura kit.
A two-seat cockpit, a divided canopy, a prominent matte anti-glare panel in front of the windshield and large landing gear units all make the Phantom a machine on which hand masking stretches into hours. The extensive level of the set brings the greatest saving of time here, because on one sheet you find templates for more than just the glazing itself. The result is also repeatable: anyone who builds several Phantoms gets frames of the same width and edges of the same shape every time.
Work in layers. First the interior color of the frames, once dry the base coat of the airframe and only at the end the dark areas such as the anti-glare panel, which on this type is sprayed in matte paint against a glossy surrounding. Degrease the clear parts and press the masks down with a soft stick. On the wheels spray the rim first, then cover it once dry and spray the tire. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch. The unused remainder of the sheet comes in useful on later builds.
This is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
