The basic grade of the cut New Ware mask set in 1:48 scale. The set covers two forms of the Sabre whose main glazing is treated in the same way, and it is cut for a particular kit. The package holds a self-adhesive film on a backing sheet.
There are decals for the thin frames of a canopy too, but the result is not comparable. A decal lies on the surface, makes a step at the edge of the glazing and, where the curvature is stronger, it creases or silvers. A mask, by contrast, leads to a frame sprayed in the same color as the airframe, blending into it without a visible boundary. The difference shows most on a model with the canopy removed, where the frame is visible from both sides.
Leave the unused parts on the sheet, do not bend the sheet and store it flat in an envelope in a dry place, away from heating and direct sunlight. The adhesive hardens over time, and heat speeds that up. If the film is already holding weakly, press it down for a while with a blunt tip and spray more carefully, or seal its edge with a thin coat of clear varnish. The remains of the sheet also come in useful as material for small masks cut by hand, for intake covers or the boundaries of color fields, for instance.
The package holds only the masking film. Paints, glue and a kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
