The product is not a kit but an accessory for painting a model. It contains machine-cut masking templates that follow the shape of the frames and other areas exactly. At New Ware the EXPERT designation is the highest level of extent, that is the most comprehensive variant of the set compared with the BASIC and ADVANCED levels. On a large aircraft in 1:48 scale it is exactly the breadth of the extent that pays off most, because there would otherwise be a great deal of masking by hand.
The General Dynamics F-111 was an American two-seat strike aircraft with a variable-sweep wing. The crew sat side by side and, instead of ejection seats, were provided with an escape capsule that separated from the fuselage as a whole. The aircraft was designed for long-range strikes in all weather, for which it had a terrain-following radar for flight at low altitude. Besides the US Air Force, the type was operated in a modified form by the Royal Australian Air Force.
The wide windscreen and the flat canopy of the F-111 have long straight edges, where every inaccuracy shows at first sight. Lay the template down on one edge first and only then press it down step by step, so that no wave forms. Once all the parts are stuck on, run a fingernail over the transitions through a soft cloth. A light overspray of the edges in the interior shade is recommended; any paint that creeps under will then be hidden and the external color goes right up to a tight edge. Keep the offcuts of the sheet, as on a model this large they come in useful when masking the camouflage.
The set is cut to the shape of a particular kit; check before buying that it matches the model you are building. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
