Me 262 A-2a with Kettenkraftrad EXPERT 1:48 mask set (New Ware)

The extended form of the mask set in 1:48 scale for a combination in which, besides the Me 262 A-2a aircraft, there is also the half-track vehicle Kettenkraftrad. The set therefore deals with two different subjects at once, each with a different logic of masking. The cut self-adhesive masks are applied to the appropriate surfaces and sprayed together with the surrounding coat.

Two different tasks in one set

On the aircraft it is above all a matter of the divided canopy and the surfaces that are sprayed in a different shade. On the small tractor the situation is different: there you mask a small windscreen and the areas of the wheels, where the rubber of the tire differs from the rim. By hand it is the wheels in particular that are the most unpleasant, because a circular cut never comes out accurate freehand and any asymmetry is immediately apparent on a part that small.

What proves itself in the work

• First finish both subjects structurally and only then mask, as later sanding will damage a mask.
• Apply the wheel masks centered on the circumference of the rim, not on the axle. The eye picks up an offset on the circumference sooner.
• Press the thin frames down with a rubber tip; a fingernail bends the film and paint creeps under.
• Let the paint really dry between coats, otherwise the finish will be pulled when the mask is removed.
• Keep the remaining parts of the sheet flat, as they may come in useful when repairing the coat.

Who the set is for

For modelers building the combination of an aircraft with a tractor who want to bring both parts to the same level. Given its extent it is better suited to someone who has already worked with masks.

The package holds only the mask set. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. The description is purely technical, about building and painting a model.
