A cut self-adhesive Eduard masking set in 1:48 scale for the German two-seat Messerschmitt Me 262B-1a/U1 jet night fighter. It is not a kit or a model in its own right but a set of precisely shaped masks in thin yellow masking tape (kabuki). The masks cover the framing of the glazed cockpit and make it easy to spray the glazing cleanly; depending on the contents of the package they also serve to cover the wheels. The parts are cut exactly to the shape of a particular kit, so there is no trimming of tape by hand.
The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet fighter in the world to enter series service. The B-1a/U1 version was a two-seat night fighter conversion fitted with the FuG 218 Neptun radar with its characteristic antler antennas on the nose. It was used in the very last stage of the Second World War against British night bombers and fast Mosquito aircraft over Berlin.
First remove any grease from the glazing. Lift the mask off the backing, place it on the frame and press it down so that it adheres without wrinkles. Then spray the color of the framing with an airbrush in thin coats so that it does not creep under the edge of the mask. Once dry, peel the mask off carefully at a sharp angle. The extensive, complex glazing of the two-seat cockpit with its many frames makes masking especially welcome here.
The package holds only the masks. The model, paints, glue and decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
