Color 3D decals for the Mi-17 cockpit in 1:48 scale for the Trumpeter kit. The instrument panels of both pilots and the flight engineer's station get printed instruments without a single stroke of the brush.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is printed on decal paper and carries both color and three-dimensional relief at once. It is glued onto the plastic interior parts and replaces the painting of the instruments, the lettering and the texture of the upholstery. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you buy separately.
The Mi-17 is the export designation of the Soviet transport helicopter that was listed at home as the Mi-8MT. Against the older Hips it has more powerful engines and the tail rotor moved to the other side. Two pilots sit in the cockpit, and between them a little further back the flight engineer, so the cockpit has three stations and correspondingly densely occupied instrument and overhead panels. Painting that jumble of dials by hand is several evenings of work; the decals cut it down to a single sitting.
The decals supply color, lettering and a shallow relief. They do not change the shape of the parts, so coarser simplifications of the molding cannot be put right this way. In return the whole cycle of painting, shading and dry-brushing is done away with, and the interior looks consistent even where painting tiny dials by hand would end in a blot.
