An accessory set in 1:48 scale for models of the MiG-21MF and MiG-21SMT. Both versions come from the same airframe, but they differ in details, so parts tuned directly to them fit better than a universal replacement. Accessory sets of this type are worked into a build in place of the original parts and move the resulting level of detail to where an ordinary part from a kit does not reach.
The MiG-21 is a Soviet single-engine supersonic fighter aircraft with a triangular wing and a circular air intake with a movable cone, one of the most widespread combat aircraft of the postwar era. The MF version belonged among the most numerous and served with the Czechoslovak Air Force as well. The SMT version is told at first glance by the conspicuously widened dorsal spine behind the cockpit, into which a greater supply of fuel fitted.
First try the parts dry in the place they are to go, and only then modify the kit. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the shape is preserved. Use cyanoacrylate glue for gluing, as ordinary glue for polystyrene may not hold reliably. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly. The particular procedure for preparation is given by the instructions of the manufacturer of the set.
For modelers who are building the MiG-21MF or SMT in 1:48 scale and want to complete a model with more detailed elements. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
