A resin detail set from the Aires brand in 1:48 scale. It replaces the engine exhaust nozzle on a model of the MiG-27 Flogger fighter-bomber in its late form, in the variant with the nozzle closed. It is not an aircraft model, but an accurate addition that will raise the fidelity of the rear of the machine over the parts from the basic kit.
The MiG-27 was a Soviet single-seat fighter-bomber derived from the MiG-23 series, with a fixed nose shape adapted for attacks on ground targets. The exhaust nozzle of the jet engine is a visually exposed feature, and the resin casting captures the fine petals and the inner structure more faithfully than injection-molded plastic. The closed position matches a machine on the ground with the engine shut down.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The metallic shades of the nozzle show at their best after a coat of primer, and for the burnt and heat-stressed areas use metallic paints and gentle toning.
This is an add-on detail set, not an aircraft model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
