This detail set in 1:48 scale from the Aires brand is not a stand-alone model, but an addition for refining the tail of the MiG-27 Flogger fighter-bomber. It holds a resin engine exhaust nozzle in the late form, cast in the open position with well-worked petals and interior, which injection-molded plastic usually does not capture.
The MiG-27 was a Soviet fighter-bomber with a variable-geometry wing, derived from the MiG-23 fighter. It was optimized for attacks on ground targets and differed from its predecessor in the nose and the engine installation, among other things. The exhaust nozzle of the jet engine is a visually striking feature of the tail area.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The inside of the nozzle shows at its best after painting in metallic shades and gentle highlighting with a toning wash. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
