This is a detail accessory of the Metallic Details brand, not a kit of an aircraft. It replaces the plastic exhaust nozzles of a model of the MiG-29 in 1:48 scale with more finely done parts with a thin trailing edge and drawn-out petals. The nozzles are done in the fully open position, that is as they look on a machine standing on the ground with the engines shut down. The modeler obtains the base kit separately.
The MiG-29 is a twin-engine frontline fighter with its powerplants housed in separate nacelles. Thanks to that the ends of the engines are visible from practically every angle, and in a display case everyone looks at them. Injection plastic always has a certain wall thickness on thin petals, and the longitudinal seam inside the cone is very hard to sand. A cast accessory removes this weakness and adds fine structure that a mold for plastic cannot hold.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap; on cast parts, mold release agent stays on the surface and paint would not hold on it. Separate any casting blocks with a saw or a cutting disc, never with nippers, or the thin wall will crack. Try the seating dry and even any difference in diameter out by sanding the plastic part, not the casting. Glue with thicker superglue, which gives time to set the alignment of the axes. Paint before gluing: a darker metal shade inside and a lighter steel one outside looks more faithful than one flat metallic coat. Fine-tune the heat discoloration with very thin brown and blue-violet shades applied in several passes. Always stir metallic paints thoroughly; the pigment sinks to the bottom.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, which it does not hold. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
