A set of masking templates for building a model of the MiG-31BM/BSM in 1:48 scale. The templates are cut to shape, so they are laid straight into place and you do not have to cut them laboriously out of tape. The result is a sharp edge of paint where masking by hand manages it only with difficulty. The extent of the set and the order of application are described in the enclosed instructions.
The MiG-31 is a heavy two-seat interceptor with a crew of a pilot and an operator, intended for guarding extensive airspace. It is a large and angularly treated machine with a trapezoidal wing, a pair of vertical tail surfaces and an extensive radar in the nose, which allows it to work against targets at great distance. The BM and BSM designations belong to modernized machines of the later period.
The ground must be dry, smooth and degreased. Lay the template precisely and press the edge down with a blunt tip along its whole length, otherwise the paint will run under it. Spray perpendicular to the surface and rather in three thin coats than in one heavy one, because a thick coat creates a step at the edge. Take the mask off shortly after spraying, while the paint has only flashed off. If you are spraying a light shade onto a dark ground, back the area with white, otherwise the result will be muddy.
The set suits a modeler who wants clean edges on a large model and does not want to spend an evening slicing tape. The use is simple and a less experienced builder will manage it too.
The package holds only masking templates. The kit, the paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
