A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks in 1:48 scale for the heavy interceptor MiG-31B. The masks are laid on the clear part of the cockpit and after spraying the canopy framing stays crisp while the glass is clean. The double-sided version stated in the name means masks for the outer and the inner side of the glazing, so the framing comes out right when looking into the cockpit too. It is not a kit.
The MiG-31B is a version of the two-seat supersonic interceptor intended to protect a vast airspace. The airplane has a pair of powerful engines, a capable onboard radar and carries long-range guided missiles. The cockpit seats two in tandem, with heavily divided framing and massive canopies: from a modeler's point of view this is exactly the case where masking by hand takes more time than all the rest of the build.
First wash the clear part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry, because a mask will not hold on a greasy surface. Carry the mask with tweezers and press it down all around with a wooden toothpick. Spray the framing first in the interior color and only then, once it is dry, in the exterior shade, otherwise the inside shows through. Spray thin coats and peel the mask off slowly at a sharp angle. Remove any remains of adhesive after unmasking with a cotton swab moistened with water, not with thinner.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
