An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian MiG-31BM interceptor in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss, with the hypersonic Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile added. The kit has an engraved surface, a detailed cockpit, metal landing gear, rubber tires and photo-etched parts; it is a large model with a high number of parts.
The MiG-31 is a heavy two-seat supersonic interceptor capable of flight close to Mach 3, intended to intercept targets at long range and high altitude. The modernized BM version brought a new radar and avionics. The carrier of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal — an air-launched missile of long range and high speed — appeared more recently. A massive fuselage carries the pair of powerful engines.
A large model rewards dry-fitting and careful alignment of the fuselage halves. Glue the plastic with thin cement and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage; protect the glazing with a mask. Fit the underslung Kinzhal missile last. Apply a primer before painting; spray the typical Russian gray camouflage with an airbrush and shade the panels gently.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
