The cradle of the Mistel 2 composite in 1:48 scale joins the unmanned Junkers Ju 88 bomber with the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter on top.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains the struts and the frame with which the fighter was seated on the back of the unmanned bomber. The rendition corresponds to the combination of the Junkers Ju 88 with the Focke-Wulf Fw 190; after a small modification it can also be used for the older composite with the Messerschmitt Bf 109.
It was one of the strangest German projects of the end of the war. A worn-out bomber received a massive shaped charge warhead in place of its glazed nose, and with it an automatic system that kept it in straight flight. On top, a fighter sat on struts with a pilot who led the whole composite to the target, aimed it and then released the lower machine. The service was sparse and the effect weak; the targets were bridges, harbors and ships, and most of the attacks ended before the composite reached the target.
The greatest challenge is the mutual alignment of the two models: first assemble the structure dry, check the angles and only then glue. Count on the weight of the upper machine; it is advisable to reinforce the joints with steel wire and to stand the whole thing on a sufficiently firm display base. Paint the metal parts of the struts separately; once assembled you will not get to them any more.
It is supplied on its own; both aircraft have to be procured separately.
