The Mk 82 is an American unguided aircraft bomb of the 500-pound weight class and one of the most widespread weapons of its kind. The Mk 15 Snakeye fin turns it into a weapon for release from low altitude: after release its surfaces open out, the bomb brakes sharply and the aircraft meanwhile has time to leave the blast area. That is why you will meet it on models mainly on machines meant for attacking ground targets, and on a pylon it stands out, because the opening fin is recognized at once.
According to the name the package holds six pieces in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory to a model with which the external stores from a kit are replaced or supplemented. How the parts are divided, whether the fin offers an open as well as a folded position and which racks the set belongs to is given in the manufacturer's instructions enclosed.
The parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, going carefully on the thin surfaces of the fin. Wash and degrease them before painting. Fit the bombs only once painted; they hold better that way and you will not get paint onto the station. Line them up on the racks along the longitudinal axis of the aircraft and at a single height, because a crookedly hung bomb shows on a finished model more than any inaccuracy of shape.
A set of bombs is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
