1:48 Mk 24 Mine Fido torpedo is a resin accessory to an airplane kit in 1:48 scale that you have already bought: it is not a model but external stores that you add to a model or to a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory from the Czech maker Brengun, cast in modeling resin. It represents an American airborne antisubmarine weapon of the Second World War period, carried under the cover designation Mk 24 Mine and the nickname Fido. The set is intended for completing a model you already have; it does not replace a plastic kit. The number of pieces in the package is not stated here.
Despite the designation of a mine, this was technically a torpedo with acoustic homing, dropped from maritime patrol and carrier airplanes. The cover name was meant to conceal its real function. In construction it is a slim cylindrical body with tail surfaces and a propeller; it was hung under the fuselage or under the wing of an airplane. For a modeler what matters above all is the shape: a smooth body with a clear transition into the tail section, which a resin casting captures more precisely than a two-part plastic molding.
Wash the casting in warm water with dish soap so that no release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting block off with a modeling saw; with a long cylindrical shape it pays to cut in sections and only then to sand, so that the body does not bend. Sand wet and protect your breathing. The tail surfaces and the propeller are small and fragile, so it pays to put them down in a dish lest they be lost. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before painting, spray the whole part with primer; a smooth surface will mercilessly show every scratch left by sanding, so keep the corrections for this stage.
A supplementary set. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
