The Nakajima B6N1 and B6N2 Tenzan in 1:48 scale: covering for spraying with which you create the impression of hinged control surfaces on the airframe.
Responsibility details are not available.
Covering with which the deflection of the control surfaces is painted instead of cut. Under a covered strip the lighter base stays, a deeper tone is laid beside it and the eye evaluates the division between the two fields as shadow under a hinged surface. The set is prepared for the airframe in 1:48 and relates to both versions stated.
The Tenzan was to replace the proven but aging B5N torpedo bomber. It received a more massive fuselage, a stronger powerplant and a conspicuous vertical tail raked forward so that it fitted into ships' elevators. The first production machines with the Mamoru engine were troubled by unreliability, so the B6N2 version moved to the Kasei. The fate of the type was decided by the loss of the aircraft carriers, though: before the Tenzan reached full deployment, the decks it would have taken off from were missing, and most of the machines therefore operated from land.
The larger airframe of a two-seat machine tempts you into quick work, but on large surfaces precisely every imperfect edge is visible. Work surface by surface, press the edges down and release the paint square to the surface, otherwise it runs under. Keep the width of the division symmetrical on the left and the right; asymmetry is more distracting than a slightly weak contrast.
