A decal sheet for a model of the North American P-51D-5 Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale. The extent of the markings is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American P-51D is the most widespread version of the American Mustang fighter of the Second World War. You recognize it by the teardrop canopy and the lowered fuselage spine, which opened the pilot's view to the rear. The production blocks numbered 5 belong to the first series of the D version, so a model built to them looks a little different from the later machines.
Decals for a P-51D-5 model in 1:48 scale. Which particular machines, national markings and inscriptions the sheet contains and how they are placed on the model is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so go through them before you start spraying the camouflage. The color scheme that has to be finished under the decals differs according to the machine chosen.
First varnish the area under the decal with a clear gloss varnish; a matte surface holds air under the film and silvery patches appear. Cut the decal close to the edge of the print, put it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide on the paper. Then slide it onto the moistened spot, line it up and blot the excess water into a paper towel. On broken surfaces a decal softener helps. Once it has dried, varnish the whole model with a matte or semi-gloss varnish.
The kit of the aircraft, paints and varnishes are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
