1:48 3D decals for the North-American P-51D-5 bring a colored, relief-formed interior on a decal backing. It is an accessory to a model, not an aircraft kit.

A set of so-called 3D decals from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the American North-American P-51D-5 fighter in 1:48 scale. Unlike ordinary flat decals, these parts have relief, so once applied they create the impression of instruments, consoles and padding rendered in three dimensions. They are applied directly to the plastic parts of the kit and so replace the lengthy hand-painting of small cockpit details. The package contains no aircraft model; it is purely an accessory.
The P-51D was an American single-seat fighter with a teardrop canopy and a good view in every direction. The D-5 production block was among the first batches of this version and was marked by a vertical tail without the characteristic fillet leading into the fuselage, which became standard on later blocks. Thanks to the all-round canopy the cockpit of the P-51D is very clearly visible on a finished model, and that is exactly why detailing the interior pays off on this type.
The surface has to be smooth, clean and ideally finished with a gloss varnish, so that the decal does not go matte and no silvered edges form. Cut the parts out as close as possible and moisten only the backing paper underneath them; a sponge with a drop of dish soap is enough, and do not pull at them by force. Lift the part off with tweezers and fix it with white PVA glue; a decal softener has no place here, as its chemicals attack the printed resin. Once dry, the whole thing can be knocked back with a matte varnish and brought out with a very fine dark wash. Work before you close the fuselage up, as the cockpit will be out of reach once the halves are joined.
The accessory is supplied as decals. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
