A self-adhesive pre-cut masking set from Art Scale for a model of the O-2A observation aircraft in 1:48 scale. The masks have their final shape along the outlines of the frames; it is enough to stick them on and spray. The single-sided version covers the outer side of the clear parts; the inner edges of the framing are touched in with a brush or stay in the interior shade. It is an accessory for a kit, not the model itself. It follows the dimensions of the ICM kit.
Why a mask pays off especially here
An observation aircraft has glazing carried well back and out to the sides so that the crew can see out, and on the model that means a large area with a great many divided panes. Hand-cut tape takes a considerable time there and the edges still do not come out evenly.
The O-2A is a twin-engine high-wing aircraft with two piston engines in a tandem arrangement, that is, a tractor propeller at the front and a pusher at the rear, and with a pair of tail booms. It is derived from a civil touring aircraft and was used for observation, liaison and directing onto targets. Its characteristic feature is precisely the extensive cockpit glazing, including windows in the lower part of the doors.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry freely; after that, do not touch it with your fingers. Take the masks out with tweezers and lay them on one at a time along the outline of the frame, always pressing the edge down with a blunt toothpick. On a large glazed area, do not forget to tape over or cover with masking fluid the remaining free surfaces; the set deals with the framing, not with covering the whole part. Spray thin coats with a pause. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, with an angled pull along the surface.
The box holds masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not included.
