An accessory set in 1:48 scale for models of the OH-58D Kiowa helicopter. Parts tuned to the particular type replace or supplement the items from the kit and raise the level of detail where the original part runs into its limits. On a helicopter that shows a great deal, because much of its structure stays exposed on the outside.
The OH-58D is an American light helicopter derived from the civil Bell 206 and used by the army for scouting and observation. It can be told from the older versions of the OH-58 line at first glance: it has a four-blade main rotor and, above the rotor head, the spherical housing of the sighting and observation system, which lets the machine watch its surroundings from behind cover. Instead of wheeled landing gear it stands on skids.
Dry-fit the parts first and only then work on the kit. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and carefully sand off the rest. Use super glue for the joints; ordinary cement for polystyrene may not hold reliably. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will hold poorly. It is worth lightening the dark camouflage shades of helicopters so that they do not swallow the molded detail in a small scale. The particular preparation procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions for the set.
For modelers who build the OH-58D in 1:48 scale and want to add more detailed items to the model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
