This is a turned metal detail set, not an aircraft model. The package contains precisely turned metal barrels of the .50 caliber Browning machine guns with covered cooling jackets and tips of the 20 mm cannon for the late versions of the P-38 Lightning in 1:48 scale. The metal parts replace the plastic parts from the kit, they have cleanly open muzzles and they are more durable than thin plastic.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-boom fighter of the Second World War with its armament concentrated in the nose of the central nacelle. The late versions had machine guns with covered cooling jackets, and it is exactly this form of the armament that the set reproduces.
Cut the plastic barrels off, drill holes of the right diameter and glue the metal parts in with cyanoacrylate. Degrease the brass before painting and apply a primer. Sort the parts out beforehand and work with tweezers.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
