A resin detail engine in 1:48 scale from the maker Aires, the Quickboost line. It is not a kit of the airplane but an accessory that replaces the simpler plastic powerplant with a faithful resin replica of the V12 engine. The part is meant for the P-39N and P-39Q versions and to be built into a matching plastic model, above all when it is shown with the engine bay open.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra is an American fighter of the Second World War with an unusual layout, in which the Allison V-1710 V12 engine sat behind the pilot in the middle of the fuselage and drove the propeller through a long drive shaft. That solution freed the nose for the armament and a nose wheel landing gear. The N and Q versions were among the later production variants.
Wash the parts free of mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks carefully and glue them with super glue. Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The engine comes into its own in metallic shades; pick the plumbing and the wiring out with a fine brush and deepen the whole with a dark wash. Dry-fit it before you close the cowling.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
