1:48 P-39Q Airacobra, national insignia and marking stencils (Arma Hobby) let the insignia be sprayed instead of applying decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
Stencils for spraying the national insignia and markings of the P-39Q fighter in 1:48 scale, prepared for the Arma Hobby kit mentioned in the name.
A decal laid on a broken-up surface with rivets and panel seams often leaves a glossy edge behind that does not entirely disappear even after a softener. A sprayed insignia has no such edge, because it becomes part of the finish, and when the panel lines are accentuated later it behaves just like the surface around it. On the Airacobra, whose markings sit across the curved side of the fuselage and across a wing with ripples in the skin, the difference is visible at first glance. Resistance to rubbing is also incomparable, which anyone who picks a model up now and then will appreciate.
Lay a white base down first and only then the colored coats. Neither blue nor red will cover over dark camouflage on its own. Let the finish set between shades so that the edges do not bleed, and prepare the shades according to the scheme you have chosen. Spray only after the base camouflage has dried thoroughly. Even an ordinary acrylic finish will hold a sharp edge if you apply it square to the surface and in a thin film. After uncovering, compare the outline once more against references; a fine brush will even out any irregularity before the final coat of varnish comes.
