Eduard masking templates for the Curtiss P-40N model in 1:48 scale, the manufacturer's part number EX113.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masking templates for the model of the American Curtiss P-40N fighter. The templates are cut to shape in advance, so the most unpleasant part of masking falls away, that is cutting small shapes out of tape directly on the model, where the blade easily slips and scratches the glazing.
The P-40N is a late version of the well-known Curtiss P-40. It came about by lightening the machine and by changes meant to improve the view to the rear; it is by the rear fuselage and the glazing that the late examples are most easily recognized. The aircraft served with many Allied air forces and carried very varied color schemes, so it also suits the modeler who has a taste for unusual markings.
A cockpit frame painted with a brush shows at first glance: the line wanders and the paint is drawn over the edge of the glazing. A template gives a sharp, straight edge and the paint stays only where it belongs. Covered glazing moreover survives the whole paint job and the weathering that follows without scratches.
Degrease the surface before sticking the templates down and press them with a toothpick, above all on the curves. Spray the frames first in the interior shade and only then in the exterior finish, otherwise the camouflage will show through from the inside. Take the template off shortly after spraying, while the layer is not yet completely hard, and draw the tweezers toward yourself rather than straight up from the surface.
The package contains masking templates. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
