A set of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the maker Furball Aero-Design brings the markings of North American P-51 Mustang fighters in the B and D versions from the 487th Fighter Squadron, nicknamed Meyer's Maulers. The package also holds vinyl masks for spraying the typical blue nose easily, and plenty of stencils and technical lettering for several models. The decals are intended for a matching plastic model; the model itself is not included in the package.
The P-51 Mustang was an outstanding American long-range escort fighter that protected bomber formations over Europe. The machines of the 487th Fighter Squadron sported strikingly blue painted noses, which made them some of the most photogenic Mustangs of all. Personal names and the insignia of aces make it possible to build a model with a strong story.
Mask out and spray the blue nose first, so that it has a sharp, clean edge. Then apply the decals onto a gloss coat, settle them with a decal softener and draw them into the engraved lines with a setting solution. Keep the natural metal clean and even the finished markings out with a final varnish.
The set holds decals and masks. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
