Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat fighter F-14A Tomcat in the Iranian Persian Cat form (IRIAF) in 1:48 scale from the maker Hobby Boss. It is a large and striking model with swing (variable-geometry) wings and a well-worked cockpit. The package carries the markings of Iranian machines.
The F-14 Tomcat was developed by the firm Grumman in the 1970s as a two-seat supersonic carrier fighter for the US Navy with variable wing geometry and a powerful radar for protecting task forces at long range. In the 1970s Iran ordered 79 F-14A machines to counter incursions by Soviet aircraft, and became the only foreign operator of the Tomcat. While the US Navy retired the type in 2006, Iran remains its last user.
A large 1:48 model gives room for detail, so it pays to work up the cockpit, the ejection seats and the external stores before you close up the fuselage. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, mask the canopy glazing, unify the surface with a primer and apply the paint with an airbrush. Iranian Tomcats carried striking desert and low-visibility camouflage schemes with pronounced wear, so complete the patina and the fading of the paint with filters, washes in the panel lines and gentle dry brushing on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
