Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 Type 24 fighter in 1:48 scale from Academy. The model captures the late version of this small, stubby aircraft with its radial engine and clear cockpit parts. The package contains decals for color schemes. It is a rewarding build of one of the most distinctive fighters of the 1930s.
The Polikarpov I-16 was a Soviet single-seat fighter with a short, stubby fuselage and a radial engine, one of the first production fighters with retractable landing gear. It was used in the Spanish Civil War, in the fighting in the Far East and in the opening battles on the Eastern Front in the Second World War. The Type 24 version was among the late variants with a more powerful engine and strengthened armament of machine guns and wing cannon.
On the plastic use liquid cement and finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage. The short fuselage and the radial engine invite careful work on the nose; accentuate the engine and the exhausts with dark shades and a wash. Mask the glazing and fit it at the end. For Soviet schemes, green shades and light blue undersides work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
