The resin set converts a plastic kit of a medium tank into a technical vehicle in which the turret has been replaced by equipment for recovery and for handling loads. The set does not make a model on its own: the base kit has to be obtained separately.
Recovery vehicles were created on the chassis of production tanks, because units needed equipment able to pull a damaged machine out of the terrain and move heavy components. The combat turret was removed and replaced by a working superstructure or an open space fitted with lifting and towing equipment. The running gear and the hull stayed common with the combat version, so the two forms of the vehicle are told apart mainly from above.
The turret is the most conspicuous thing on a tank, and this conversion removes it. That is exactly why it shows immediately and from every angle: a silhouette without a turret reads completely differently from a combat vehicle. On top of that the upper surface of the hull is exposed, so the model gains room for tools, ropes, crates and crew, which every diorama builder will appreciate. The set makes no sense, on the other hand, if you only want to improve a combat tank: it does not address the detail of the running gear or the armament, it changes the role of the vehicle. And because an opening is left after the turret is removed, count on covering and leveling it being the main part of the work.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces wet with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Finish the running gear and any hull interior before you close the upper surface. On a technical vehicle a stronger patina pays off: deposits of soil, wear on the tow ropes and greasy traces around the working equipment do more for credibility than a clean coat of paint.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
