Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the PZL P.24 fighter in the B version in 1:48 scale from the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby. The model captures the export form of this type, which foreign air forces ordered. It tends to be completed with some details beyond bare plastic, and the particular composition of the package is not stated here. The 1:48 scale is a rewarding one for prewar single-engined fighters — the model has a reasonable size and at the same time it will carry a detailed working-out of the cockpit as well as of the engine.
The PZL P.24 was the culmination of the development of the series of Polish high-wing aircraft with the characteristic high gull wing of the so-called Polish type, whose best-known representative was the P.11. The fundamental change against its predecessors was a more powerful French Gnome-Rhône radial engine of the 14N series, thanks to which the aircraft gained markedly higher performance. Because the Polish Air Force was tied to home-built engines, the P.24 was conceived from the start as an export type. The customers were above all the states of southeastern Europe and Turkey, and some of the machines arose in licensed production outside Poland. The B version was among the first export forms delivered in series. In the second half of the 1930s it was a modern fighter, which the swift arrival of all-metal low-wing aircraft nevertheless made obsolete before it could prove its qualities to the full.
The key to a credible model is the cockpit and the front part of the engine — both are clearly visible on this type. Finish and spray the inside of the cockpit before closing the fuselage. The radial engine will stand out if, after the base shade, you go over the cylinders lightly with a dark wash and suggest the rubbing with a dry brush. The gull wing requires careful seating of the struts — let the assembly dry on a flat surface and check the symmetry of the two halves continuously. A matte varnish suits the fabric areas of the control surfaces, while the metal parts should be lightened slightly. Spray a gloss varnish under the decals so that white edges do not arise.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
