A pair of R-77 (AA-12 Adder) missiles in 1:48 scale with their characteristic grid fins for modern Russian fighters.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set by AMMO of Mig Jimenez contains two pieces of the R-77 air-to-air missile in 1:48 scale. It serves to improve the armament of a finished model and does not represent a kit of a machine on its own. A pair of pieces matches hanging under both halves of the wing or on a pair of fuselage pylons.
The R-77, in Russian terminology also the RVV-AE, is a medium-range missile developed at the end of the nineteen-eighties as a counterweight to Western missiles with active radar guidance. It is precisely the active radar in the seeker head that lets it complete an attack without further illumination from the onboard radar of the carrier, so the pilot can maneuver after launch. The unmistakable feature is the folding grid fins at the tail, thanks to which the missile acquired the nickname of the whisk among modelers. In service it is carried by MiG-29 machines and their newer variants, and further by the Su-27 and derived types including the Su-30 and the Su-35.
The grids of the tail surfaces are the most delicate part of the whole item, so handle them carefully and clean them with a soft brush, not with a scraper. Apply the paint to them in several thin layers; a single heavy coat will flood the fine structure and the effect will disappear. The body of the missile, by contrast, will take a smooth glossy undercoat, on which decals hold without silvering.
You will not find an aircraft, paints or glue in the package.
