Figures of rats in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit, but a scene accessory for dioramas where neglect, a storeroom or an underground space is meant to come through. Small rodents belong to the details a viewer notices only the second time around, and that is exactly why they work: thanks to them the scene looks alive without another figure having to be added to it.
Rats suit rubble, cellars, sewers, warehouses, sacks of supplies, garbage and a broken crate. Place them in shadow and at the edges of objects, that is, where they would really move. The effect grows stronger when several of them head for one target. In 1:48 scale these are very small parts, which is their advantage; the viewer finds them gradually.
Rinse and degrease the figures and cut the casting residue off with a sharp knife. Apply a thin coat of primer. The coat is painted from a dark brown-gray base; the back stays dark and the flanks are lightened slightly with a dry brush. The tail and the paws tend to be pinkish, the eyes dark and small. A dark wash will emphasize the coat and a final matte varnish will unify the surface. Because of the size of the parts, work with tweezers and glue with cyanoacrylate applied drop by drop.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and the base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
