A sheet of waterslide decals from the Czech publisher DK Decals. It is not a kit, but markings for a finished and painted model. The sheet belongs to the publisher's pilot series, which always puts one name at the center of attention and follows the machines that person flew. How many schemes the sheet offers, what types it covers and how large it is are given on the box.
Richard Cresswell is among the well-known Australian fighter pilots, and his name is linked with No. 77 Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force, which he led more than once. During his flying career he went from the wartime Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk through the North American P-51 Mustang fighter to the beginnings of the jet era. The pilot series of decals has exactly this logic: a modeler can build several machines of one person and follow on them how the finishes, the national markings and the personal emblems changed over time. For a collector it is a more interesting way to build than individual unconnected models.
Go over the areas under the decals with a gloss varnish; on a matte base air is trapped under the film and a light frame appears around the marking. Cut the decal out together with its backing, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and wait until it starts to slide freely. Slide it onto the model with a moistened brush, press the water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges, and only then apply a decal softener, which draws the decal down into the engraved lines and over the curves. Once it has dried perfectly, overcoat the model with a matte or satin varnish so that the edges of the film blend with the paint.
