About product

RQ-7B Shadow UAV 1:48 - a Brengun resin kit

This resin kit for experienced modelers from the Czech brand Brengun captures the RQ-7B Shadow tactical unmanned aircraft in 1:48 scale. Thanks to the small dimensions of the real aircraft the result is a compact model that will fit on any shelf, and it represents one of the most widespread categories of present-day military aviation - unmanned reconnaissance systems. The resin castings offer fine detail on the slender structure that injection-molded plastic would render only with difficulty at this scale.

The real subject

The RQ-7B Shadow is an American tactical unmanned aircraft intended for reconnaissance, battlefield surveillance and real-time targeting. It is used by the US Army and the Marine Corps and by many allied countries. The machine launches from a pneumatic catapult on a trailer, lands on a runway and uses an arresting system to stop, much like carrier aircraft. It is characterized by a high-wing layout, a pusher propeller and a pair of tail booms.

Building and painting tips

First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp knife and sand the marks down - always protect your airways while sanding resin. Glue the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and attach the slender parts only at the end. Prime before painting; the overall gray finish of the real aircraft is brought to life by fine emphasis of the panels and a wash.

Who the model is for

  • Experienced modelers who have already worked with resin kits.
  • Collectors of modern military equipment and unmanned systems.
  • Diorama builders - a Shadow with its launch catapult is an unusual subject.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Rather not - it is a resin kit that calls for cutting off the casting blocks, sanding and gluing with super glue.

The real aircraft is a small tactical unmanned system, so even in 1:48 scale the result is a compact model suited to a shelf or a diorama.

Super glue (cyanoacrylate), or epoxy. Ordinary cement for polystyrene will not join resin.

An American tactical unmanned reconnaissance aircraft launched from a catapult, used by the US Army, the Marine Corps and allies.
