An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank in the model 1942 version with a cast turret in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. Unlike the angular welded turret, this version has a turret with the characteristic rounded shapes produced by casting. The kit offers solid detail, photo-etched parts and a straightforward build in the smaller scale.
The KV-1 was a Soviet heavy tank famous for its thick armor. The model 1942 version brought reinforced armor and a 76.2mm gun. The cast turret with its rounded shapes was one of the production variants of the KV-1 turret; casting allowed shapes that welding could not manage. The KV-1 became the forerunner of the later Soviet heavy tanks.
Assemble and paint the running gear before you close the hull. Use thin cement on the plastic. Apply a primer, airbrush the paints and liven up the Soviet green with dark washes in the details and with pigments for dust and mud on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
