An injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian multi-role fighter MiG-35 (the code name Fulcrum F) in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The kit comes from a tooling released in 2024 and represents the single-seat version of the aircraft. In the box you will find ten sprues plus separate upper and lower fuselage parts, over 290 parts in all, clear parts, a photo-etched sheet, decals and instructions. It includes a well-worked cockpit, finely rendered fuselage and wings and a rich selection of external stores matching the nine hardpoints of the real aircraft. The tooling is from the current Hobby Boss generation: the surface has engraved panel lines, the parts are clean and they fit decently; typically for this manufacturer it is a kit that builds well straight out of the box, even though advanced modelers will reach for cockpit accessories and separate decals.
The MiG-35 is the newest development branch of the famous MiG-29. It follows on from the modernized MiG-29M and MiG-29K variants and brings new avionics, a modern radar, a glass cockpit with multi-function displays, an increased fuel load and a higher payload on nine hardpoints. The manufacturer presents it as a multi-role machine of generation 4++, that is as a transitional type between the classic fourth and the fifth generation. The aircraft exists in single-seat and two-seat versions — this model captures the single-seat version. It keeps the characteristic silhouette of the Fulcrum family: two engines, a pair of vertical tails and massive leading-edge root extensions.
Use thin cement for plastic applied by capillary action, and the engraved lines will stay sharp. Finish and paint the cockpit and the photo-etched parts before you close the fuselage. Spray the whole model with a primer before painting: it reveals small scratches and gaps and unifies the base under modern gray camouflage, which is sensitive to mistakes. Apply the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats and make the transitions between the shades of gray soft. Overcoat with gloss varnish under the decals, and do the final flattening with matte varnish. Paint and decal the external stores separately and fit them at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
