A resin set of cockpit controls in 1:48 scale for models of Soviet aircraft of the Second World War period. It is a detail accessory, not a kit: the small castings replace or complement the parts in the cockpit of the base plastic model. The set is conceived universally – check the contents with the manufacturer beforehand.
Besides the instrument panel and the seat, the cockpit of a fighter of the day consisted of a range of small things: the control stick with its grip, the foot pedals, the throttle lever and other controls on the side panels. It is exactly these parts that in kits are either missing or simplified to the edge of shape. Yet in 1:48 scale you see the whole cockpit under an open canopy.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and leave them on the casting block until the last moment – with parts of this size they are otherwise hard to handle and easily lost. Separate them with a new scalpel blade over a light surface, not with nippers. They glue with a small drop of super glue applied with a toothpick. The simplest procedure: paint the parts while still on the block, glue them into the model finished and only touch in the joints. Fit the control stick only after the seat is glued in, so that the cockpit can be closed properly, and try dry whether it keeps the canopy from sitting down.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted, and paints and glue are not included in the package.
