A photo-etched set in 1:48 scale for a model of the Vought SB2U-3 Vindicator carrier-based dive bomber. Fine metal parts sharpen the details that injected plastic cannot manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vought SB2U Vindicator belonged to the generation of American carrier-based dive bombers of the late 1930s. It was an all-metal monoplane with a crew of two and folding wings, so that it took up as little space as possible in a carrier hangar. The SB2U-3 version was the last production form of the type; by the beginning of the war it was already outdated against modern fighters and some of the aircraft flew with Marine Corps squadrons. It is precisely this form of the Vindicator that modelers usually find most interesting.
A set of photo-etched parts for a model in 1:48 scale. Thin metal sheet makes it possible to render grilles, belts, frames and instrument panels in a thickness that injected plastic cannot reach. The extent of the set and the kit it is cut for are given in the maker's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade against a hard surface, not by snapping them in your fingers, otherwise the sheet twists. Make the bends in a bender, or at least between the jaws of flat tweezers, so that the edge is sharp and in one plane. Metal holds on super glue, and on larger areas a slower epoxy is useful, because it lets you still shift the part. Before painting, wash and degrease the sheet and use a primer made for metal, otherwise the finish rubs off during handling.
Paints, glue and modeling tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
