The Eduard 1:48 SE.5a stretchers photo-etched set contains metal turnbuckles and bracing fittings for a model of the S.E.5a biplane. This is a specialized photo-etched accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard is meant for detailing the rigging (the bracing wires) of a model of the British biplane Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a in 1:48 scale. It is not a model and not a kit — these are fine brass parts, specifically turnbuckles and wire anchors, with which you markedly raise the fidelity of the interplane bracing and the tensioning elements.
The S.E.5a was one of the most successful British fighter biplanes of the First World War. Thanks to a sturdy structure, good speed and a steady gun platform it was among the favorite machines of the aces of the Royal Air Force. The bracing wires between the wings are characteristic of the biplanes of the period and rendering them faithfully is one of the high points of a build.
Separate the small turnbuckles with a sharp knife and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Ideally combine them with stretched sprue or elastic thread that imitates the wires themselves. Work under a magnifier and with tweezers; the parts are small and call for patience.
The accessory comes as a set of photo-etched parts, unpainted. The base model, glue, the wires and paints are not included in the package.
